The Color Orange
This time of year, we are feeling inspired by fabrics in shades of orange…that particularly fiery sliver of sunrise {and sunset}. Orange combines the energy of red and the happiness of yellow. The color is linked to warmth, creativity, enthusiasm and definitely gets our attention!
Orange is a season-less color as it’s association with summer is just as true as it is with fall.
The use of orange in the home through fabrics and/or decorative accents can be bold or subtle depending on your personal style. Shades from peach to persimmon can jump start neutral spaces or add a warm layer to already color-infused decor. Consider saturated, robust hues as a cheerful option in a beach-side home, RV or even on the boat!
Hatherly Orange Blossom from Mill Creek softly introduces shades of tangerine, apricot and coral. It is a wonderful cotton option for drapery or bedding. Hatherly is offered in 3 additional colorways.
Spots, one of our favorite go-to’s, is an upholstery weight chenille animal print.
The Pumpkin color is ideal for statement ottomans or small, occasional chairs.
Orange and other vibrant, warm shades of color stimulate the appetite. Try a performance fabric in high traffic areas like the kitchen; on barstools or on host/hostess chairs in a dining room.
If a traditional feel is what you are after,Crypton Jumper from Valdese Weavers offers a smart herringbone in a modern shade of Melon. However, if the flamboyant better suites your taste, try Waverly’s Good Impression to create a stunning headboard or sets of drapery panels. A bright orange pattern from Bella Dura will make a dramatic statement outdoors. To accent, turn to fabrics with complimentary eye-catching shades of navy, aqua or teal.
Our on-line fabric store offers several hundred options, by the yard, in shades of orange alongside thousands of other fabrics in every color under the sun.
