Chinoiserie fabrics continue to be a source of fascination and inspiration. Why? Chic, Oriental designs always work. They never go out of style and any designer – from Miles Redd to Madcap Cottage knows this is a look you can’t screw up.
“Chinoiserie always adds a touch of timeless elegance to any interior.” – Michelle of Ceylon et Cie.
We recently added new fabrics from Vern Yip and Jaclyn Smith, whose collections for Trend Fabricut are exclusive favorites boasting fantasy dragons, ginger jars and pagodas galore. As Asian-inspired designs evolve, we have noticed a lighter, more delicate approach incorporating fine detail in not-so-neon color palettes.
Popular motifs include:
- Nature: Scenes highlighting garden vignettes, cherry blossoms, fretwork with flowering branches and bridges over lotus ponds.
- Dragons: A Chinese symbol for luck often used by emperors to convey power.
- Ginger Jars: Asian jars traditionally used for storing spices are now a go-to home accessory.
