Anne and Suysel share colorful backgrounds in design including architecture, fashion, fine art and interiors. The pair met in New York and became fast friends. Their similar artistic aesthetic and dreams of pursuing interior design were realized when they eventually formed a partnership and opened their own business. The Tilton Fenwick firm was born (named after their respective college dorms).
Through their brand Tilton Fenwick, the design duo have created an exciting and eclectic collection (their second for The Robert Allen Duralee Group) featuring European inspired patterns based on historic motifs, contemporary wovens and block-print fabrics, incorporating unexpected color combos drawn from their travels abroad.
“This collection is all about maximizing the mix!”
Suysal says, “I have always loved scallop patterns, so when we visited the Jerónimos Monastery in Lisbon I was immediately drawn to the whimsical shape of the window archways. I knew we had to translate this iconic motif to a fabric in our collection”.
Their vision resulted in creating one of the pair’s favorite patterns – a scalloped design called Angelina, shown in Sapphire on the chair pictured below. Angelina from Tilton Fenwick Duralee fabric is available in 4 colorways.
By now, you have probably noted Tilton Fenwick’s tendency towards the color blue. This is no accident. The pair’s all-time favorite shade is Prussian Blue.
